Who Could Have Rational Expectations? Bounds Across People and Information Sets
In a mixture of a rational component and an unrestricted alternative, the mixing weight is bounded above but never below. In the Health and Retirement Study full rational expectations is rejected, the non-rationalizable share is small for survival beliefs and much larger for beliefs about working past sixty-two.
